A Rock In The Sandbox - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
A Rock In The Sandbox - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career One sunny afternoon, a young boy was busying himself playing in his sandbox. In addition to his own two hands, he had an assortment of trucks, a large plastic pail, and a shiny, red shovel. As he created imaginary roads, hills and tunnels in the soft sand, he encountered a large rock deep within the sand box. Committed to the task, the boy began digging around the rock, eventually dislodging it from the mix of sand and dirt. With all his strength, the small boy pushed, pulled and nudged the relatively large rock across the sandbox using all tiny might. Do all you can to use all your strength Finally, the boy got the rock to the edge of the sandbox. Once there, however, he found that he had trouble rolling it up and over the sandbox wall. Determined, the boy grunted and groaned ⦠he shoved and pushed ⦠and he heaved and he hoed. Even when he pried with all his might, however, he met with failure. It seemed that every time he thought he had made some progress, the seemingly massive rock would fall back into the sandbox. Finally, in utter frustration, he burst into tears. Do not allow frustration to defeat you As the intended excavation unfolded, the boyâs father watched through a window inside the house. At the moment the boyâs tears began to fall, the father left the house and walked towards his son, casting a large shadow across the boy and the sandbox. In a firm but gentle manner, the father inquired, âSon, why didnât you use all the strength that you had available?â The boy replied back through sniffles and tear, âBut I did. I did, Daddy. I used all the strength that I had! I used my hands and feet ⦠and I used my arms and legs.â Your greatest strength is reaching out to others âNo, you didnât use all your strength,â remarked the father, with a smile on this face. âYou could not have possibly used all your strength. I know this, because you didnât ask me for help.â With that, the father reached down, picked up the rock, and removed it from the sandbox in one powerful motion. The moral is that from time to time we all have problems. Some we can conquer on our own. Some we cannot. For those we cannot, however, unless we are tapping into our network to get help, we are not doing all we can. Author: Frank Agin is the founder and president of AmSpirit Business Connections. The 10 Most Hated Types of Employees [INFOGRAPHIC]
The 10 Most Hated Types of Employees [INFOGRAPHIC] Unfortunately, a workforce full of employees without any flaws is hard to come by and some times you just have to accept that there are going to be people that make getting through the working day a little bit difficult to say the least. Whether they just dont put the effort in, or have a constantly negative attitude towards work and colleagues, there are always going to be individuals who somewhat let the team down. This infographic by Jobcluster has put together a list of the 10 must hated types of employees, that Im sure will sound pretty familiar to some of you. The one who constantly misses deadlines Not only do delays create setbacks for the individual who missed the deadline, there may also be a knock-on-effect for others involved when a schedule is disrupted. The constant complainer They are never satisfied, whether its to do colleagues, management, etc. and theyre not afraid to let everyone know. The time waster In other words, slackers. They will do anything to avoid doing work, from prolonged coffee breaks, to running pointless errands. The workaholic They live, sleep and breath their job and dont seem to have any idea of a work-life-balance. You cant help but resent them a bit when they make you look bad for taking time off. The praise hunter They need to be praised for everything they do, even the most basic of things, as though they are a huge achievement. Any form of criticism is taken pretty poorly. The mindless browser The ones who spend all day browsing their social media feeds, scrolling through the internet, etc instead of doing their work. They take procrastination to a new level. The nit picker Perfection is required in every piece of work completed and therefore they will find flaws in pretty much everything you do. They work on their terms and will only be happy if things are done precisely in their way. The socially awkward one They may be incredibly intelligent and good at their job, however they lack a lot of basic social skills and find communicating with colleagues difficult. The ones who need to lighten up a little They have a constant negative attitude and are never happy with their life and consequently they spread negative vibes around the workplace. The slob They have no sense of personal hygiene or just general manners. Theyll generally spend their day eating noisily and creating a mess. RELATED: Who are the Worst and Best Co-Workers?

How to Overcome Obstacles As You Advance Forward - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
How to Overcome Obstacles As You Advance Forward - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career The entrepreneurial mindset is known as one that embraces change, as well as learning how to incorporate change into oneâs life. Those who fall into this category, many times, have difficulty relating with others who do not embrace this philosophy. Generally speaking, change frightens most people. Consequently, most people will not be your supportive friend. We have all heard the expression, âItâs lonely at the topâ. As you learn more, embrace technology and cutting edge ideas quickly, you leave the pack far behind. A few people recently lamented that as hard as they tried to accommodate others, no one in their respective circles reciprocated and were left to feel deserted. They began to question if they did enough for others and a twinge of guilt hit hard around their desire to move on. Asked my opinion, I advised we each have one life to live and it is our duty to live it as best we may in order to accomplish what we most desire. We can be friends with others and help one another along the way, but should never be expected to babysit or behave as others desire we do. While it may be lonely for a while, eventually you find similar minded others who will support your endeavors and strive to help one another grow. Remaining true to your beliefs and ideals are what keep your personal brand in tact. The true you should be apparent to everyone in order to also build your business brand. There is a huge benefit to the moments when you feel most alone. This is the exact moment that should be viewed as a gift of focused time for just you. Without others to wait on, you can easily afford the time to redefine your vision and create a plan for attaining it. The projects involved may be laid out in a timely manner, and a business plan put into place prioritizing which piece to dedicate yourself to first. Next, begin implementing one by one. By the time you are half-way through, and advancing toward your vision, audiences will come forward proclaiming your work to those they know. The dedicated quiet time ultimately puts you into the leadership position as you harness the gift of quiet time bestowed upon you. The sales motto is, âPeople buy from those they know, like and trust.â In order to trust you, you do need to be your own person and not worry about the extenuating circumstances. Upon conducting business in this manner, you will attract those who appreciate you, want to do business with you, and who will promote your activities voluntarily. This will become your collaborative group. And to further build audiences as well as build community around you, hold out a helping hand to those following in your footsteps by teaching what in your experience has worked best to date. You just might find some who also feel deserted by once perceived good friends, and your help will turn their dismay into good fortune. As more of us work in this manner, we positively impact society. Why the HR Department is Crucial in any Company CareerMetis.com
Why the HR Department is Crucial in any Company â" CareerMetis.com If youâve experienced applying for a job for any company before, then you know that the Human Resources department has the first people you talk to.Now that you own a business, you might forget how itâs important for business. But remember that people are what make the company run, so you should appreciate their function.evalHere are a few of the activities that they do to help your business grow.1) First Line of Employment evalIt will take a long while if those in operations or management will take care of assessing all applicants that come in. So before they do any interviews, the HR department screens them and selects those who are most likely to fit the job.If a company has no such department, then it hires a qualified staffingcompany to perform the task in its place. Either way, the process of selection becomes easier for those in authority.2) Shedding Light When applicants become new hires, the HR department also takes on the responsibility of explaining the rules and regul ations of the company to them. Itâs also in charge of answering questions that relate to it with expertise and in a way thatâs easier to understand.Human Resources is also the department that bears the burden of implementing those rules in the company.3) The Personal TouchIf youâll think about the term âhuman resources,â youâll find that the people who work for the company are important. If no one will do the necessary tasks, then the business will fail to run. Thatâs why itâs also the HR departmentâs job to take care of the employees.Itâs responsible for activities such as following up on requirements and providing incentives and benefits.4) Lend their EarsevalAside from talking with potential candidates for job openings, one of their tasks is also to listen to current employeesâ feedback. Your people are sure to have different views on the company and how itâs progressing. The HR department is in charge of collecting information about the employeesâ opinio ns and suggestions and relaying it to the concerned party. It helps businesses know where theyâre weak in, and act to improve themselves in a speedy manner.5) Help Resolve MisunderstandingsevalNot every day on the job is smooth sailing. Thereâll be some days when people break the rules, donât get along with others, and complain about something in the company.evalThe HR department is usually called to help resolve these cases and bring the workplace back into order. It also acts as a third party when arguments within the group break out. With a gamut of responsibilities and functions, the human resources department plays a big part in managing the people inside a business. Because of that, company owners shouldnât think twice about forming one.The people who work in this group do more than meets the eye and should receive the respect theyâre due. Even if you donât have enough people to dedicate to it, you can also count on staffing companies to do a huge part of the job.

Police Communications Officer Tests - Whats Involved
Police Communications Officer Tests - What's Involved Police Communications Of?cer tests Police Communications Of?cer tests Police Communication Of?cers and 999 emergency call handlers have to deal with a wide range of callers, some of whom may be frightened, angry and distressed. If your application is successful, youâll be asked to attend one of our assessment day tests where we will assess your ability to handle these types of calls and obtain the information our police of?cers need. The test that forms part of the assessment day is broken up into two parts as follows: Test 1: Audio typing For this test you will listen to a recorded 999 call and type up as much of the information you hear as possible. To pass the live test you will need to achieve an average typing speed of around 30 words per minute. You donât need to type word for word but you must cover all the relevant and important information and everything you type must make sense â" this includes correct use of spelling and grammar. Test 2: Call handling role play The next test on your assessment day is a role-play to determine how well you deal with a live-call situation. You will ?eld calls from assessment centre staff and be marked on how well you manage the call. This will include: ⢠Calming the caller if they are distressed; ⢠Questioning the caller about the incident to obtain and record important information; ⢠Ensuring you obtain and note the callerâs name, address and phone number. These assessments are only designed to test if you have the potential to be a Communications Of?cer. This is a highly skilled role and, if youâre successful, youâll be given all the training you need to begin this challenging and rewarding career. FOUR TIPS FOR HANDLING ROLE PLAY To reduce anxiety about role play the following tips may help: Focus on the scenario â" What would you do if you were a Store Manager trying to calm down a distressed parent, for example? How would you deal with the parent by taking rapid steps to ?nd the lost child? Be prepared to be âdropped in at the d eep endâ â" You may quite literally walk into a room and have the role thrust upon you with only a few minutes to prepare. Be yourself â" Respond as you would in any stressful situation. You will be constantly dealing with distressed members of the public in your new role so try and imagine you have actually been appointed to the job of Police Communications Of?cer during your role play, particularly during the telephone tests. Try and relax â" Role play can give you more of an opportunity to demonstrate your suitability for the position than other types of assessment such as competency interviews and psychometric tests. Make the most of it. Remember that every other candidate will be equally as nervous as you. See here to learn more about becoming a police communications officer. H1B Premium Processing Resume - How to Write a Strong Resume With Help From a Resume Service
H1B Premium Processing Resume - How to Write a Strong Resume With Help From a Resume ServiceH1B Premium Processing Resume has to do with reviewing and judging the qualifications of an applicant by putting the job for them. When someone has a good work history, he will get good pay because his employer knows what he can do and is confident in hiring him. For this reason it is important that you are well researched and have a good resume. However if you don't have an excellent resume but have knowledge about your job, there are ways to make it easier for your employer to see you. There are things you can do to make sure they are aware of your skills and abilities. This is also a good idea so that they can keep you on their team. There are many resume services and you can look at them to see which one fits your needs best. When you are getting ready to get the help of one of these companies, make sure that they have the latest software to let you make your own information, like a computer with a connection to the internet. They should be able to provide you with all the information you need and make it easy for you to prepare your own H1B Premium Processing Resume. Most of these companies have a system that lets you make the information that you want and can also customize the information you want, as long as you are clear about it.One thing you might consider is creating a list of the job duties that you can find in the job description. You should also list down the skills that you use and find out how you can apply them to your job. You might even want to list down your qualification, education and training so that they know you can perform the tasks in the way that they want. The more information you give them the better. If you are applying for a visa to come to the US to work then the first thing you should do is to take a look at your H1B Premium Processing Resume. Remember that if you have more than one visa, you have to include both of them so that you do not have to supply the same information each time. Remember also that when you are applying for a visa to come to the US, they will check the information provided on your resume. You might want to be sure you mention this on your resume that you are a US citizen. They might look at your records and see that you are not a citizen of another country. Some employers might not give you the opportunity to come to the US if you don't tell them this information. The last thing you should do on your H1B Premium Processing Resume is to review and compare different job descriptions. One thing you will see is that a job description includes a lot of information, including salary, but not much else. Make sure that you put in all the information you feel you need to get the job.The final step is to email the information you have on your resume to the company you want to apply for the job. Be sure to follow up with them so that they have your full attention. This is the only way to ensure that you are working for the right company and that you are given the chance to make a good impression on them.
